Chompling — Sunlight, Producers & Food Grazing Grounds Gate
Hi!
I'm Chompling.
Welcome to Grazing Grounds Gate!
Will you help me investigate sunlight, producers & food?
The Grumblies have mixed up our clues.
Let's check the evidence!
Many food chains begin with producers such as green plants and algae.
Producers use sunlight to make food from water and carbon dioxide.
Which is a producer here?
- A. Grass
- B. The grass-eating animal
- C. A fox
The answer is A: Grass
Our chain begins with grass using sunlight, then an animal eating grass.
Soil supplies minerals and support, but is not the grass's ready-made food.
That clue helps us make sense of this place.
The Sun is the main starting energy source for most
familiar food webs.
Consumers obtain food by eating other organisms.
Where does the producer get energy for making food?
- A. Only swallowed soil
- B. Only moonlight labels
- C. Sunlight
