🎴 Gemlings vs. Grumblies – Official Game Rules
Your Gemling and Grumbly cards aren’t just fun to collect — they’re also the centerpiece of a thrilling head-to-head battle game! With equal decks and carefully chosen digs, you’ll face off to see who rules Glimmeria.
🧩 What You Need to Play
-
Each player needs an equal number of cards.
-
For every 5 cards, each player selects 1 Dig Specimen.
-
Example: 20 cards = 4 digs per player.
-
-
One player battles as the Gemlings, the other as the Grumblies.
-
Keep your cards and digs together so they don’t get mixed with your opponent’s set.
✊ First Move: Rock-Paper-Scissors
-
Shuffle your deck.
-
Play Rock-Paper-Scissors.
-
The winner chooses to play as either the Gemlings or the Grumblies.
-
Both players set their decks and digs in front of them — ready for battle.
⚔️ Classic Gameplay
1. Flip & Compare
-
Both players flip their top card into their own play area.
-
The higher card wins the round.
2. Tie-Break with Digs
-
If the cards are tied, each player may play one Dig Specimen:
-
Tier Match = +1 Gem Power Point
-
True Match = +5 Gem Power Points
-
-
If still tied, flip the next card until there is a winner.
3. Claim the Prize
-
The winner collects both cards played (and any digs used during a tie-break) into their Win Pile.
💎 Optional Mode: Treasure Battle
Want higher stakes? Try Treasure Battle Mode!
-
At the start of each round, both players place one Dig Specimen face-down into the center.
-
Players then flip their cards and compare them as usual.
-
The winner of the round collects both cards and both digs into their Win Pile.
-
Once a dig is lost, it becomes part of the winner’s collection for the rest of the game.
⚡ This version makes every round feel like a true excavation — you’re literally battling for treasures!
🏆 Winning the Game
The game ends when one player has collected all the cards. In Treasure Battle Mode, the winner will also walk away with the most digs.
🔄 After the Game
When the battle ends:
-
Return cards and digs to their original sets.
-
Players can trade cards and digs if they want.
-
Shuffle, reset, and play again!
🌟 Pro Tips
-
Save your best cards for Treasure Battle Mode — losing digs hurts!
-
In longer games, start with fewer digs per player so the treasure pool stays exciting.
