Trading Card Game Rules

⚔️ Excavating Adventures Trading Card Game Rules

🎮 Setup

  • Each player starts with an equal number of cards and digs.

  • Standard game = 11 cards + 5 digs per player (but more can be agreed upon).

  • Players may look at their cards and digs before the game begins.

🪨 Starting the Game

  • Decide who plays first with Rock, Paper, Scissors.

  • Players then take turns playing one card (and optionally a dig).

🃏 Card & Dig Values

  • Gemling Cards → Worth their face value.

    • If paired with their matching gem dig, add +3 points.

  • Adventurling Cards → Worth their face value.

    • If paired with any dig, add +2 points.

    • If paired with their tribe’s dig, the dig adds +2 points once only. After that, that dig is out of play until the next game.

  • Tribe Dig (without Adventurling) → Adds +1 point to each card of that tribe (as long as it remains in play).

  • Grumbly Cards → When played, the Grumbly card is worth its face value and subtracts –3 points from your opponent’s card that round.

⚡ Playing Rounds

  1. The first player chooses a card (and may attach a dig).

  2. The opponent responds by playing a card (and may attach a dig).

  3. Compare the total values:

    • Highest score wins the round.

    • Winner earns 1 point.

  4. Used cards are discarded. Some digs may remain in play; others are discarded depending on type (see rules above).

🏆 Winning the Game

  • Play continues until all cards are used.

  • Digs may go unplayed at the end of the game.

  • The player with the most points at the end wins.
