Earthquake Vocabulary
Blades of blue quartz have grown across the only way through, and each one is cut for a word. Pair the words with their meanings and the blades fold back.
What you're training for
In the Blade Forest, the path is sealed by ringing crystal blades. They fold flat for whoever can match the four words every seismologist uses. Train here first; prove it in the simulation.
The science
- Fault: the crack where rock slips.
- Focus: the break itself, down underground — where the earthquake actually starts.
- Epicenter: the spot on the surface directly above the focus — the place the news reports.
- Seismometer: the instrument that records the shaking, drawing every wave as it arrives.
