States of Water
Crystal Falls has stopped in mid-air — thousands of droplets frozen between the lip and the pool. Water is one stuff in three forms, and sorting them wakes the falls up.
What you're training for
At Crystal Falls, the water has forgotten how to fall. It remembers for whoever can sort solid, liquid and gas without a miss. Train here first; prove it in the simulation.
The science
- Ice, river water and vapour are the same substance — only the temperature changes the form.
- Solid: ice and snow — molecules locked in place. Liquid: rain and rivers — molecules sliding past each other. Gas: water vapour — molecules flying free.
- Water vapour is invisible — the white "steam" you can see is actually tiny liquid droplets that have already condensed.
- Melting, freezing, evaporating and condensing are just water moving between its three forms — no water is ever gained or lost.

Race the states. An ice cube in a clear cup on each table: predict how long to melt, then how long for the puddle to vanish. Where did it go? It's still in the room — invisible. Then breathe on a cold window: the vapour in your own breath condenses back to liquid on the glass. All three states, witnessed.
