Weather Tools
Every needle in Static Grotto is pinned to one side, and nobody can chase a storm with no instruments. Each tool measures exactly one thing — match them to their jobs.
What you're training for
In Static Grotto, the whole instrument rack is scrambled. The needles settle for whoever can match every weather tool to its job. Train here first; prove it in the simulation.
The science
- Thermometer: measures how hot or cold it is.
- Rain gauge: measures how much rain fell — the simplest instrument there is: a marked cup.
- Wind vane: shows which way the wind blows.
- Anemometer: measures how fast the wind blows — the spinning cups. Two tools watch the wind: one for direction, one for speed.
Teach it today — one plastic bottle
Build the simplest instrument. Cut the top off a bottle, invert it as a funnel, mark centimetres up the side — a working rain gauge, on the windowsill by lunch. Read it after every rain and log the numbers. The class now runs a real weather station with the easiest tool on the rack.
