How Earthquakes Happen
New cracks are running across the Shatter Wall faster than the crew can map them. Cracks don't appear out of nowhere — there's an order, and knowing it stops the wall.
What you're training for
At the Shatter Wall, the map is out of date every minute. The wall stops opening new cracks for whoever can put the earthquake steps in order, from pressure to shaking. Train here first; prove it in the simulation.
The science
- Plates push against each other and the rock takes the strain.
- Rock actually bends and holds that strain — for years, sometimes centuries — like a drawn bow.
- When the strain wins, the rock snaps along a fault. That snap is the earthquake.
- The stored energy races outward as waves — which is why shaking reaches places far from the break.
Teach it today — one stick of spaghetti
The bend and snap. Each student slowly bends a dry spaghetti stick and narrates: pressure… bending… holding… snap. Where did the energy go? They felt it in their fingers — that jolt is the wave. Four steps, physically memorized in one second of breakage.
