Light & Shadow in Space
Void Tunnel has gone flat black — but dark is only a shadow, and a shadow can be rebuilt: a light, something solid in the way, and a surface for it to land on.
What you're training for
In Void Tunnel, your lamp's beam simply stops. The light comes back for whoever can say, for each dark event, exactly what is blocking what. Train here first; prove it in the simulation.
The science
- A shadow needs three things lined up: a light source, something solid in the way, and a surface for the shadow to fall on.
- Solar eclipse: the Moon blocks the Sun — the Moon's shadow falls on Earth.
- Lunar eclipse: Earth blocks the Sun — Earth's shadow falls on the Moon.
- Night itself is a shadow: your half of Earth has spun into Earth's own shadow. The biggest shadow you'll ever stand in.
Teach it today — one flashlight
Shadow theater. Flashlight, ball, wall. Challenge teams to stage each dark event — a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse, night — and narrate the three parts out loud: what's the light, what's blocking, where does the shadow land? If they can build it, they understand it.
