Outer Space Odyssey
A realm punched open from above — dead planet surfaces, crater floors, and a belt of tumbling rock you have to ride across to get anywhere. Six stops, six problems to put right, six Digs to recover. Free, no logins, no accounts. Led by Spaceling, the Realm's hero Adventureling.
Assigning one stop
- Every stop has its own address. Stop 4 is
/pages/outer-space-odyssey#stop-4— paste it straight into Google Classroom. - Progress is remembered on the device, so a class can do one stop a week and pick up where it left off.
- Each stop runs 10–15 minutes. The finale needs all six done first.
The six stops
1. The Red SurfaceMars is red because its dust is full of iron oxide — rust. Its surface was shaped by three things: wind, impacts, and old volcanoes.2. The Burning RimVenus is hotter than Mercury even though it is farther from the Sun. Venus has a thick carbon dioxide atmosphere that traps heat and never lets it go.3. Void TunnelA shadow needs three things lined up — a light source, something solid in the way, and a surface for the shadow to fall on.4. Nebula GrottoOur solar system began as a cold cloud of gas and dust. Gravity pulled it inward, it spun faster and flattened into a disk, the Sun lit up in the middle, and the leftover material clumped into planets.5. Asteroid RunA meteoroid is a rock still out in space. A meteor is the streak of light it makes burning through the air. A meteorite is the piece that survives and lands.6. The Comet TrailA comet is ice and dust. Sunlight and the solar wind blow the loosened material off it, so the tail always points away from the Sun — even when the comet is flying back out.
What the kit adds
