Jurassic Attack

Assigning one stop
- Every stop has its own address. Stop 4 is
/pages/jurassic-attack#stop-4— paste it straight into Google Classroom. - Progress is remembered on the device, so a class can do one stop a week and pick up where it left off.
- Each stop runs 10–15 minutes. The finale needs all six done first.
The six stops
1. The Stone ForestBuried wood cannot rot without oxygen. Mineral-rich water seeps in, and silica fills the wood cell by cell until the whole log is stone.2. The Shell WallIn undisturbed rock the bottom layer is the oldest. It was laid down first, and every layer after it piled on top.3. The Sludge PitsA trace fossil is not the animal itself. It is the evidence the animal left behind: tracks, burrows, bite marks, even fossil dung.4. Amber FallsAmber is tree resin turned hard, and it can trap a whole insect. Bone and wood are usually replaced mineral by mineral. Frozen ground can keep a whole body for thousands of years.5. Jawbone ArchTeeth tell you the diet. Sharp, blade-like, serrated teeth cut meat. Flat, pegged or leaf-shaped teeth strip and grind plants.6. The Glow BedBones and teeth are built from a mineral called apatite. Fossil bone often still holds it, and it glows under ultraviolet light.
What the kit adds
The adventure is free and always will be. The Jurassic Attack kit adds the part a screen cannot do: six real specimens, six Digs that come sealed with the label scratched off, six Gemlings in a blind bag, and the printed map with Dinoling on it. Finish a stop online and that location's Dig is yours to open for real.
Finished Jurassic Attack? The online adventure is the half you can do today. The other half is a real specimen in your hand — six of them, one per stop, sealed in a Dig with the label scratched off.
