A class set is most useful when you can picture the lesson around it. Before choosing a gem-mining experience for an elementary class, decide who will participate, what students will investigate and how the materials will move through your classroom.
Excavating Adventures' World’s Greatest Gem Mining Adventure promise gives that planning a clear purpose: an inviting discovery connected to elementary science. A purchased Class Pack is one route to the optional physical experience. The separate Free Dig Kit campaign is another opportunity; physical free kits require full funding and school and delivery confirmation. Free resources and Online Adventures are available independently of either route.
Begin with the learning idea, then choose the experience
Write one sentence describing what you want students to do. For example: “Students will describe specimen features and compare two finds.” That gives your purchasing conversation a concrete starting point.
Preview a relevant item from the free science resource library. Choose vocabulary or a teacher guide that fits your unit. You can also preview the free Rocks & Minerals Adventure to decide how online exploration might connect with the physical activity.
The optional physical experience follows Discover–Identify–Collect. Plan a moment for uncovering the finds, time to examine their clues and a way to keep or organize the materials afterward. Let the activity support your lesson rather than trying to build a lesson around every item at once.
Count participating students before selecting a pack
Use the number of children who will take part in the planned activity. If several classes are involved, record each group's count and the teacher responsible for that group. Separate the student count from the number of adults helping.
The current Class Pack page describes a base box of 15 student kits with a pack-size selector for additional students. Review the selected quantity and current product details before placing an order. Use the live product page and checkout for current pricing rather than relying on a saved social post.
If your school needs an order review or purchase process, bring the actual product link and intended quantity to that conversation. Confirm the delivery arrangements and timing with EA before announcing an activity date that depends on the materials.
Know what belongs with the student and what stays with the teacher
The current Class Pack includes one student excavation kit and dig stick per child in the selected pack size. Each student's kit contains six specimens and matching trading cards. River Rock is guaranteed, with Rockling on the back of its card; the other five specimens are additional finds.
The teacher receives a small canvas bag holding one assorted-color 3D-printed Rockling figure per student. Keep this teacher-held bag separate when organizing the student materials. Colors vary and cannot be selected; they are variations of Rockling.
The teacher decides when to distribute the figures. That might be after a classroom Game rescue, as a later reward or at another appropriate moment. Free Online Adventure completion does not require buying a kit, and an online victory is complete without a physical reward.
Plan how the materials move through the room
Use the supplied teacher setup guidance to prepare for the physical activity. Decide where each student's materials will go, where children will examine their finds and how you will handle the return to an ordinary classroom lesson.
Agree on adult support before the session. A helper might distribute materials or assist with an agreed cleanup task while the teacher leads the learning. Choose responsibilities that fit your room, group and school routines.
Think about the finish as well as the reveal. Decide where cards and finds will be organized and what students should explain before the materials are put away. These choices make the class-set purchase part of a planned learning experience.
Choose the next step that fits your school
If your group is ready to purchase, review the Class Pack and select your student quantity. Check current product and delivery details as part of your school's ordering process.
If you want to explore community-supported kits, use the Free Dig Kit classroom campaign instead of treating a campaign signup as an order confirmation. Physical free kits require full funding and school and delivery confirmation.
You can start the learning now with free resources and 36 free Online Adventures. Choose the physical experience when the lesson, student count and arrangements fit.
