The Rocks and Minerals Class Pack comes with fifteen individually packed kits to support 15 students. Each kit is filled with everything needed to discover a unique rock or mineral for your students to identify, trade or collect.
Each no-prep excavation kit is packaged individually to allow for easy distribution to students in class, as well as those students that may be participating virtually. The packaging doubles as an excavation tray for debris to keep messes to a minimum and then gets used as a case for specimens that students can take home, display, and enjoy!
This in-class excavating experience will bring the fun of a gem mining field trip right into your classroom and aligns with many science educational standards. There is also a continuing education component where students can join a virtual gem mining experience to earn even more specimens 100% for free that will get delivered right to their door at no cost at all!
Our excavations are different and unique as we do not include a standard assortment of rocks and minerals. Each student will discover their own unique rock or mineral from our set of 120 specimens that they can choose to keep, share, or even trade with classmates!

Slate is a metamorphic rock that forms from mudstone or shale. Slate can easily be broken into neat, thin sheets because of its foliation and is used for different varieties of flooring and roofing.
